Independent test results
(Done by Octave Acoustique Inc.)
Acoustic tests from different companies compared Dura-Son 3.5mm with other leading brands. All tests came out positive for Dura-Son. Products were tested in a bedroom under a 15mm engineered hardwood floor, installed over a 9” concrete slab.
The result: Dura-Son 3.5mm obtained an FIIC rating of 65 while the other products with different thicknesses obtained FIIC ratings of 63-61. Dura-Son 3.5mm scored better than all products.
FIIC is a measure of impact level. The Canadian Mortgage & Housing Corporation (CMHC) recommends FIIC 55 with hardwood flooring. A higher FIIC rating means better sound absorption.
